Enough Cake for All

I used to work in this cute little metaphysical shoppe in Sugarloaf, NY called The Bodhi tree. The Gal who ran it was a very connected soul. She introduced me to the power of Amma and so many other wonderful things. (If Amma ever goes back on tour, GO! you will not regret it).

The Bodhi Tree ended up expanding rapidly and I found myself reading in stores at the Malls as well as in Sugarloaf. I had back-to-back readings for the entire time I was there. She and her stores were doing wonderfully.

After some time, a new store came to Sugarloaf. I will not name it due to the information I am about to give. Look, the store was/is cute. I am sure the owners are fabulous. That being said, they started to sell the exact same products as the Bodhi Tree. They started offering the exact same services and even hired many of the same readers.

I have to be honest, I was pissed. I was pissed for her. I was pissed for their galll. I went to the owner Vero and told her what I was seeing. She of course, running multiple stores and being president of the town commerce, really didn't have time to look at what was going on.

"Vero, they have the same products, the same services and they even have similar portraits of themselves as you do. What do we do?" I know imitation is the best flattery but in business? She had this way of smiling with warmth. I really think it was a combination of the stones and living a very high energy life. She turned to me, sighed and said laughing, "That's okay, there is enough cake for everyone at the table." She continued by explaining how we, those with small businesses should be lifting each other up, celebrating each other's victories.

This really stuck with me all of these 8 years later. I carried this with me as a store owner, a reader, a teacher and now as a rockhound. I think it is so easy to get wrapped up in the money and greed, people forget that there really is enough cake for everyone.

One of Shane's favorite things to do is watch other mines and miners dig. He get's excited when a sick piece comes out, no matter where. At times, I have even seen him call and congratulate a person for a crazy find. I think this is something we should all strive to do. Instead of stepping on people, celebrate them. Let's all just enjoy the amazing opportunities we have to mine Herkimers, or whatever else and remind ourselves what is really important.

We at Area 51 want to celebrate this new year, 2023 a 7 year in numerology. According to Creativenumerology.com 7 emphasizes introspection, emotion, analysis, intuition, reflection, seclusion, research, and FAITH. This is meant to be a quieter, “inner” year in which you can learn the answers to your most burning and often avoided questions. You must seek what feels ideal for you, and study and analyze what needs to be learned in order to make it a reality.

We here at Area 51 will be working on several new "Areas" this coming year. We plan on continuing to expand in every aspect including material, dig sites, clothing, and ways for our extended Area 51 Family to enjoy digging oppurtunities. As frustrating as it comes across that we are private, we do hear you and are working on ways of sharing our world further.

Happy New Year! May it be filled with love, light and of course crystals!
